Music and Culture
In this module, your students will embark on a global adventure that explores the important role music plays in our world. By examining the music that personally means most to each student, they will then identify what cultural roles and functions music has within their homes and communities, presenting their findings. Once exposed to the variety of musical styles and preferences that exist among your students, you’ll zoom out to introduce them to music and sounds that are not represented in your class. This process will help you gather insight into your students’ musical backgrounds and assist with selecting future repertoire and examples that resonate most with your students.
