Introduction to Rhythm Syllables

Introduction
This lesson connects the concepts of long/short rhythms and rests to a rhythmic symbol system of the educator's choice. Students will connect rhythm symbols to musical language and written/spoken language before practicing the rhythm symbols for quarter, eighth, and quarter rest. By the end of this activity, students will begin building their vocabulary of rhythm symbols and rhythm patterns.
