Introduction
In this lesson, students will practice identifying and comparing elements of musical notation while studying the oldest known melodic notation, the Hurrian Hymn #6. They will experiment with creating their own short melodies and applying and eliminating articulation symbols while listening for differences. By the end of the lesson, students will have reviewed Western notation symbols and identified the essential elements of music notation.
